A Quick Chat With Nat

A Quick Chat With Nat

WHEN DID YOU START POLE AND WHY?

I started poling (just under) four years ago. I wanted something different than the typical 'gym life' workouts. Despite the difficulty of pole, I fell in love with the activity; and the rest is history for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE POLE TRICK/POSE OR POLE FLOW?

I am in love with the shoulder mount and handspring.

WHAT IS YOUR POLE NEMESIS?

My pole "nemesis" has always been the aerial invert. I can do it, but it is a TREMENDOUS effort on my body. HENCE the reason I've become very comfortable in the shoulder mount and handspring as they can be used to get me inverted :)

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC TO TRAIN/DANCE TO?

I have a broad musical taste. It totally depends on what my mood is that day. But... I tend to gravitate towards the rap ("trap") and sensual R&B genres.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU MOST ABOUT THE POLE INDUSTRY?

I love the fact that it is no longer taboo for women my age to pole, whether it's for sport or money... I don't judge. There are so many above that magic age of 40 that are fully embracing their bodies and the art.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE POLE RELATED ITEM YOU HAVE BOUGHT THIS YEAR?

I am heavily into the shorts that have the garters sewn in :)

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A KEDEYAHKO KWEEN AND WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THE BRAND?

Well, I am absolutely honoured with the privilege to share my art form and wear such a beautiful line designed by my fellow kweens :)

The Kedeyahko brand has my FAV go-to style of long micro braids HAHA!!! Which happens to be one of my fav hair flips. Also, the different pole poses, the array of colour choices, and the various means by which the shirts can be worn are nothing short of amazing.

SHARE A TIME WHEN YOU WERE NOT SO PERFECT ON THE POLE?

WOW!!! Since I didn't start poling until the age of 40, I felt I was literally starting from square one in all aspects, e.g. flexibility, strength, and overall endurance. So with that against me I have had numerous tumbles in six to eight inch heels, plunges from spinning ENTIRELY too fast, failed hand grip due to a misjudged speed and fatigued. Additionally, learning to deal with bruises and blistering hands and fingers was a big adjustment as well.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS MISSING/NEEDED IN THE POLE INDUSTRY?

My honest answer would be the fact that tricks/flips are awesome, but the simplistic manner of a beginning to end flow is a factor that many do not embrace. Questions like, how does one start a 'flow'? What will be the transitions that lead one from move to move?

RANDOM / FUN FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF

I spent the 1999 to 2000 New Year's eve in Seoul, Korea. Am a U.S. Veteran of the United States Army :)

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE FROM YOU IN THE FUTURE?

You can plan to see my pole and dance training become more prominent and more streamlined as I have a few (personal) pole students that I have started coaching. Baby polers <3
